- ASCD is offering two free webinars this September. The first, on September 18, is "Engaging Students in Textual Analysis," and the second one, on September 23, is "The Data Action Model." To register for the webinars, get more information, or see what's coming up in October, visit the ASCD Event Center page.
- Scientific Learning also has two free webinars in September, both of which address literacy and reading. One is on Reading Fluency (September 11) and the other is on What Neuroscientists Know About Struggling Readers (September 23). I've never participated in a webinar by Scientific Learning, and I'll be curious to learn more about the company. From what I can tell, it specializes in products for learning; I only hope that the webinars aren't just focused on how their products can help meet students' needs.
- edWeb.net has a plethora of webinars in September. I counted 20 when I perused their event calendar. The focus of these webinars range from bullying to assessment to grant writing. See the full calendar of offerings and register for one or more at their Upcoming Webinars page.
- Last but not least, the Association for Middle Level Education has two webinars this September. The first, Middle Level Essentials for New Teachers: Starting the Year Strong! (September 9), sounds like a very fitting webinar for the beginning of the school year. The other September webinar, Deliberate Optimism: Reclaiming the Joy in Middle Level Education (September 24), is also timely because of the negativity that surrounds teaching in the media and society.
Are you planning on participating in any of these webinars, or do you have another webinar (or virtual PD activity) you have on your radar for September? Please feel free to leave comments and ideas in the comments!
